All of our wild-caught paua is harvested by breath-holding free divers in New Zealand's stunning Marlborough Sounds, in accordance with the New Zealand Quota Management System
(QMS). Divers take great care in selecting only specimens that are around 10mm larger than the legal minimum. These practices further promote healthy paua stocks. And because the paua are sold intact with the shell, you know you're buying a genuinely sustainable product.
Abalone is a healthy protein choice as it's high in protein and low in fat.
100% natural, this paua is tasty, nutritious, and easy to prepare. The special packaging and retort process ensure there are no chemical additives, meaning it can be kept frozen for an extended period of time, or thawed and chilled for up to 21 days. Simply open the bag and remove the frozen paua and leave to thaw. If you're in a rush, place the whole paua into boiling water for one minute, which also helps to tenderise the paua. Then separate the meat from the shell by hand (it's that easy), and remove the roe and teeth.
Don't throw away the shell once you’ve eaten the paua. A bit of cleaning and polishing will reveal an array of colours reminiscent of opal. Indeed, jewellery designers are able to turn the paua shell into earrings, necklaces, and other stunning pieces. You can, too.
