The Hoki is a very slender, silvery/white fish that can grow up to between 60 to 120cm in length. It is also known as the blue grandier and is one of the most commercially important deepwater fisheries. Hoki were the first major whitefish fisheries to be certified by the Marine Stewardship Council.

The total allowable commercial catch for hoki has recently been set at a staggering 150,010,000 kg for the year ending 30 September 2019.
